                                                                                IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ

Our students will take (3) interim assessments (also called periodic assessments) throughout the 2017- 2018 school year to prepare them for the New York State (NYS) English Language Arts (ELA) and MATH exams in Spring 2018. The interim assessments do three very important things:

  • Provide us with student proficiency levels in ELA and MATH.
  • Enhance and improve student test taking skills.
  • Test results will indicate student growth areas for further instruction

We will be doing our first round of interim assessments next week. This means that each grade will be scheduled to take a section of the NYS ELA and MATH tests for a full day, as follows:

Monday, 10/23 – 6th Grade

Tuesday, 10/24 – 7th Grade

Wednesday, 10/25 – 8th Grade

The tests will take place in the morning (ELA) and afternoon (MATH), with a break for students to have lunch and recess.

                                                                                           How can you help?

  • Read and review ELA and MATH class notes with your child everyday.
  • Set aside 30 minutes every evening for your child to read independently.
  • Please make sure that your student arrives before 8AM. Students should arrive at school between 7:30- 7:45 if they would like to eat breakfast at school.
  • Remind your child that their cellphones must be stored in their locker.

Please feel free to contact us if you have additional questions or concerns.

  • All students will be dismissed next week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 3:30pm.
  • NEXT WEEK is Parent School Night from 6:00 pm-7:30pm.
  • Friday October 27, 2017 SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSED for all students.
  • For the Safety of our students on Halloween, ALL THE STUDENTS will be dismissed at 3:30pm on October 31st.

THERE WILL BE NO BUSING SERVICE ON DAYS MENTIONED.
